Ronnie O’Sullivan will face Judd Trump in the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters after victory over Ding Junhui.

Defending champion O’Sullivan, 48, recorded five breaks of more than 50, including one of 131 in frame seven, on route to a 6-3 win over China’s Ding.

O’Sullivan will face fellow Englishman and world number two Trump in the last four on Saturday as he continues his charge for a fifth successive Shanghai Masters title.

Trump beat China’s Si Jiahui 6-2 in their quarter-final clash.

The semi-finals will be an all-English affair, with all four quarter-finals being won by English players against Chinese opposition.

Shaun Murphy and Mark Selby will face each other in the other semi-final following victories over Zhou Yuelong and Pang Junxu respectively.

Selby’s semi-final against Murphy will take place on Friday, with O’Sullivan facing Trump a day later.

The final is due to take place on Sunday, with the winner pocketing £210,000 in prize money.
