The Guardian says the incident has left the US “reeling” and that President Joe Biden has ordered “an urgent review into security breaches”. It adds that the shooting, which left one bystander dead and two injured, has “triggered fears of more political violence amid an increasingly fraught election campaign”.

An image of Trump surrounded by members of his security detail with blood on his face and a fist in the air appears on the front page of the Financial Times.
