Spain 2 Germany 1 (aet): Newcastle flop scores dramatic 119th-minute winner to break hosts’ hearts and end Kroos’ career

Occasional Digest - a story for you

SPAIN have knocked out hosts Germany from Euro 2024 as France or Portugal away in the semi-finals.

Dani Olmo’s 51st-minute opener looked to be enough to separate the sides in Stuttgart.

But Florian Wirtz levelled with just a minute to go to send the game into extra time.

But this time it was Spain who were celebrating late as super sub Mikel Merino headed a dramatic late winner.

It sends Spain into the final four while Germany crash out on home soil.
