Detox and organisation duo Charlotte Reddington and Gemma Lilly have been restoring order in messy celebrity homes for over six years now.

Luckily, they share a number of their tips on social media for us normal folk to implement.

Because who doesn’t want a wardrobe makeover with the same hacks and gadgets that you’d find Michelle Keegan’s, Rochelle Humes’ and Amanda Holden’s?

On a recent job, Charlotte took to Instagram stories to share the “one thing” you need to purchase if you want to organise your wardrobe.

Gone are the days of messy piles on the floor and clothes sliding off plastic hangers.

The organisation experts recommended we all invest in some slimline velvet hangers.

“I can assure you, this item will change your life,” Charlotte said, while using them in her most recent client’s wardrobe.

“Already, we’ve got half more in that wardrobe than was in there before.

“That’s just by changing the hangers from the wooden, plastic and wire ones to these.”

The exact ones the Style Sisters used were the SONGMICS Set of 30 Velvet Hangers.

These can be purchased on Amazon for £15.47, but are currently on sale for £12.59 – meaning each hanger works out at 42p a pop.

“They come in so many different colours and nothing slips off them,” Charlotte added.

“They’ve got nice little ridges so clothes can sit nicely on them.

“Honestly, when they’re all lined up together looking all nice and neat, it’s like you’ve got your own shop.

The Style Sisters Top 3 Decluttering Tips

Charlotte Reddington and Gemma Lilly have over 15 years experience decluttering and organising celebrity homes…

  • Out with the old, before in with the new

“It may sound a little ruthless but a one in, one out rule in your home and wardrobe can be effective to avoid over accumulating items in your home,” they said.

“It can also make you more mindful about the purchases you are making.”

“In any space, however big or small – from a utility room to your make-up box – organising items by category is the perfect way to keeping super organised,” they said.

“This allows you to know exactly where everything is and what you’ve got.

“Plus, it will make it super easy for the rest of the household to put away and keep tidy.”

  • Storage, storage and more storage!

“Storage is key, especially if space is an issue in the home or if the room is used for items like storing toys for children,” they said.

“Consider decorative storage baskets, side boards with plenty of storage or even a media wall or bookshelves with doors.”

“These are the one item we’d recommend you get if you’re doing a wardrobe detox and organise.”

A blurb on the slimline velvet hangers reads: “Covered in soft velvet, these non-slip hangers provide a cosy perch for even the most delicate garments,

“Without worrying that they may fall onto the floor, the 360 degree swivel hooks make it easier to put on and take off clothes.

“On these velvet hangers, your clothes will always stay in a good shape, so you can start a day looking sharp.

“The grooves on the shoulders help to organise dresses and skirts with straps.”
