The 51-year-old TV star told how she had an ‘absolute meltdown’, leaving her husband – former Scotland rugby international Kenny Logan shocked and their teenage twins on the brink of tears.
Gabby explained: “It was over something small, like the kids not clearing up after breakfast.
“I had this absolute meltdown, sat everybody down and launched into this off-the-cuf ‘I’m going to get myself a flat in Beaconsfield and move out and let you all just get on with it.’ It was totally random.”
Continuing to The Times, she said: “That was probably my lowest point, my mini-crisis.
“It was the time when I was feeling, this is not me and this isn’t how I cope with things. That was before going on HRT.”
Gabby has been very vocal about her struggles and her experience with the menopause in recent years both on her podcast The Mid Point — and now her book The Midpoint Plan.
She admitted that she hasn’t expect her mood to shift so much, saying: “I expected that things would change physically as you get older, but I wasn’t prepared for feeling so unenthused, anxious, snappier and short-tempered.
“I had a lot to be grateful for, but that compounds it because then you’re thinking, well, what’s wrong with me?”
Gabby says even more strain was put on her relationship with Kenny when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2022.
She explained how it made her question their sex life and she was left feeling selfish as she wondered how their future would look.
“Because obviously you put the life of the person you love way above your own personal pleasure,” she said.
Gabby is currently presenting the BBC’s Euro’s coverage in Germany and will next be covering the Olympic Game in Paris.
