Redditor ReactRunner shared the party tip in a post.

“Hosting a dessert party for Fourth of July, and this is an idea I had that I thought was worth sharing,” they wrote.

To save time, they bought a cult-favorite Trader Joe’s cake instead of making a sweet treat from scratch.

The $5.49 Chantilly Cream Vanilla Bean Mini Sheet Cake is also available in a lemon version, but give your local store a call, as the two flavors tend to sell out quickly.

They recreated the American flag on the premade cake with raspberries and blueberries.

Blueberries served as the stars, and raspberries outlined the flag’s stripes.

The quick and easy DIY is done within minutes and could even pass as homemade.

While the original poster used a pre-made Trader Joe’s sheet cake, the recipe could be recreated with any store-bought cake.

Many were inspired by the creative and time-saving dessert idea.

“This is super cute!” said one commenter.

“I’m not really patriotic, but this is so cute,” agreed another.

“Great idea!” praised a third.

“I support you OP!” said a fourth.

“It looks delicious, and I might try it.”

One viewer added that the idea applies to many holidays, not just the Fourth of July.

They explained that instead of an American flag, they repurposed the idea for the Canadian flag.

“I’ve seen this cake many times; I’ve even made a Canada Day version of it for a Canadian friend,” they said.

“But it still looks like summer, so make it!”

They even shared a pro tip for those with a sweet tooth.

“Make two so you have one to eat after everyone leaves,” they joked.
