Originally What’s On Netflix announced the news of the series, titled ‘The Grimm Reality’ where it was billed as a ‘fairy tale urban fantasy thriller’.
The series was created by Der Samurai’s Till Kleinert and Dog Haus’ Erol Yesilkaya, but before viewers could even watch it and decide if it was a hit it’s been cancelled.
After filming began in late 2022, it was thought the series would have been available to watch this year but now plans to release it have been shelved.
The series was also created by the team behind Netflix series Dark, which has proven a great hit with viewers and ran for three seasons.
The team, Wiedemann & Berg, were involved with the new fantasy series alongside a strong cast including actors such as Hyun Wanner, Patrick Isermeyer, Eidin Jalali and Dennis Schuermann.
Whilst no official decision has been given by the streaming giant behind the cancellation, it’s left many viewers frustrated.
Disappointed viewers have discussed the Netflix decision on Reddit, as one posted: “I wonder what the reason for such a decision is. They already spent the money, might as well air it.”
Another shared: “Cannot understand this logic. Shoot series but refuse to air?”
A third added: “Damn, cancelling before it even got a following. That’s a new one.”
Another posted: “This is what gets me they have already cancelled great shows like Mind hunter to take a risk on new projects, I honestly can’t think of a new show they have released over the last year that I watched or thought was good.”
