On Monday, law enforcement told TMZ that they first responded to a car crash involving two vehicles – Boyd’s Escalade and a Corvette.

The musician was arrested after he was suspected of driving under the influence.

The news outlet obtained a video of what happened.

Sources who witnessed the situation said that Boyd allegedly hit a Corvette with his Escalade.

When the two drivers stopped to look at the damage caused by the accident, the other driver called the police due to the way Boyd was allegedly acting.

Records obtained by The U.S. Sun say that Boyd was taken in around 9:30 pm and was released an hour later after posting bail.

BOYD’S PAST

Back in 2018, Boyd was sued for allegedly sexually harassing a man named James Winn when he was 18 years old, according to TMZ.

James explained in the lawsuit that he was a street musician when he met Boyd in 2007.

He claims Boyd sent him sexually suggestive texts and even allegedly masturbated next to him while he was asleep.

He says things got bad between him and Boyd in 2015.

Timeline of Boyd Tinsely’s Time in Dave Matthew’s Band

Boyd Tinsely was arrested on Monday for a suspected DUI. Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident involving Boyd’s Escalade and a Corvette. Upon observing his behavior at the scene, the violinist was handcuffed and taken into custody. He has had a long history of legal woes. Here’s a look at Boyd’s time in the popular band.

  • Boyd Tinsley joined Dave Matthew’s Band in 1992
  • He was featured on every Dave Matthew’s Band album from 1994’s Under the Table and Dreaming to 2018’s Come Tomorrow
  • Boyd was among the first person to share song-writing credits with Dave Matthews
  • He was also the first to call the band Dave Matthews Band
  • Boyd has more than 15 co-song-writing credits as a member of Dave Matthews Band
  • In 2014, he struggled through the band’s Australian tour
  • He revealed after the fact that he developed arthritis in his right hand
  • Boyd announced that he was taking a leave of absence from Dave Matthews Band in February 2018
  • In May of that year, the band announced that he was no longer a member

According to Winn’s lawsuit, Boyd purchased five tickets to a sporting event for Winn.

In response, Winn said that Boyd told him, “Man, you better suck my d**k or something.”

He cited another instance that same year, claiming they had been working on music in Boyd’s living room when they both got tired.

Winn claimed that Boyd started touching him on the leg, putting his feet on his butt and rubbing his back.

However, in a statement through his lawyer at the time, Boyd denied all the allegations.

“I only wish the reporter had spoken to me first, so they would have heard the truth,” he said.

“I will defend myself against these false accusations. … I will fight both in and out of court to repair the damage that has been done.”

They reached an out-of-court settlement in 2019, according to TMZ.

After the allegations became public, Dave Matthew’s Band announced that Boyd was no longer a member.

“Though Boyd is no longer a member of the band, we are shocked by these disturbing allegations and we were not previously aware of them,” a statement from a Dave Matthews Band rep told People at the time.

MORE LEGAL WOES

In February 2024, Boyd was sued again – this time for breaching the terms of a 2019 settlement stemming from the sexual harassment lawsuit, Rolling Stone reported.

According to the outlet, the two parties involved agreed to a $837,000 settlement payment to Winn.

Under the terms of the agreement, there was a “mutual non-disparagement” clause that prevented both parties from discussing the matter publicly.

In the newest lawsuit, Winn’s lawyers claimed that Boyd breached that clause on February 22, 2022, with a series of social media posts.

“The accusation is a total lie,” Boyd wrote on social media, screengrabs submitted as evidence and obtained by Rolling Stone claimed.

“There is a pattern of me being victimized by mentally unstable and money-grabbing people. This latest individual that I am speaking of concocted this incredulous story of sexual harassment, which is a complete and total lie.”

Boyd did not mention his accuser by name but wrote in his post that they were “a very troubled and disturbed person.”

He added that “he had a field day spending my money… music went out the window and it was all about getting drunk and playing pinball.”

The newest lawsuit included an agreed-upon penalty of $25,000 for each breach of the non-disparagement clause.

Boyd was accused of breaching the contract at least 18 different times.
