JOS BUTTLER found a new source of energy as he shattered a solar panel at the T20 World Cup.

The England captain, 33, showed raw power by hurtling an enormous six over the boundary against the United States in their Super 8 showdown.

The shot was so big that it flew way over the seats at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

And the ball landed on the roof of the stadium and landed on the green energy catcher.

TV cameras revealed the extent of the shock damage – with the panel smashed where contact was made.

The six was clocked at a whopping 104m – the fifth-furthest of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

To make matters worse for American bowler Saurabh Netravalkar, Buttler thwacked the very next ball in the third over for a six as well.

Although thankfully no solar panels were damaged in the making of that particular maximum.

However, the England tidal wave continued as Buttler and Phil Salt combined to crush the USA by ten wickets.

Buttler smacked an incredible five sixes in the ninth over, racking up 32 runs in total and on the brink of closing down their modest target.

And his four in the following over took him to 83 not out from just 38 balls ensured England’s emphatic win with 10.2 overs to spare to book their spot in the semi-finals.

It was not just Buttler’s powerplay with the bat that did the damage for the defending champions, tough.

England also had the electric Chris Jordan to thank for his performance with the ball, especially in a pulsating 19th over.

Jordan went wicket, dot, wicket, wicket, wicket in a thrilling few minutes to rattle through the USA’s bottom order to reduce the Yanks to 115 all out – and etch his name into the history books.

The Surrey bowler became just the eighth man ever to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup – and the first English star to do.

It was made even more special for Jordan because it came on the island of Barbados where he grew up.

Jordan, who returned to the team after Mark Wood was left out, said: “It’s an unbelievable feeling and most importantly we restricted them to a small total. 

 “To do it in a special place is always nice. I’ve been on a hat-trick a couple of times but got it wrong both times!”
