The popular Colin the Caterpillar in a jar has recently disappeared from the shop shelves.
One eagle-eyed fan has noticed that Colin the Caterpillar cake in a jar has been missing at M&S stores.
She has raised the issue with the company on X, former Twitter.
The post read: “Hello M&S, have you discontinued the Colin in a Jar cakes?”
The company account has responded, saying: “Hi Emily, it does look like these have been discontinued I’m afraid. I’ve let our Food team know you’d like to see them back in stock though!”
The cake jars landed on the supermarket shelves in 2021 with fans hailing it “a tiny pot of joy.”
The treat consisted of layers of chocolate sponge, Belgian chocolate sauce and chocolate ganache topped with a mini white chocolate Colin face in a convenient packaging.
Each jar retailed at £4 which has divided opinions amongst the shoppers at the time.
But it’s not all doom and gloom as M&S has launched a huge range of new products.
A spokesperson said: “We’re constantly reviewing, refreshing and improving our ranges across the Foodhall and have launched 1,250 new products in the last year, as well as upgrading 1,000 products.
“This year we are launching 1,400 new products and upgrading a further 1,000 products.”
The cake in a jar fans might be delighted as M&S has released a new alternative treat – and it comes in a jar too.
Colin the Caterpillar chocolate mousse has arrived at the supermarkets and offers a similar chocolatey goodness.
The sweet treat comes with a layer of rich chocolate sauce at the bottom, topped with fluffy chocolate mousse.
The dessert is also decorated with a white chocolate Colin face, and chewy brownie pieces.
Colin the Caterpillar chocolate mousse has been scanning at the tills for only £2 – a total steal.
Some shoppers have already tried the delicious treat, praising it as “the top-tier”.
One person wrote on Instagram: “There’s just one problem with this…there isn’t enough!
“Please, M&S, make a huge sharing version of this.”
Another one added: “It really is a cracking looking mousse.”
A third person said: “Looks banging but they need a cheap version that’s a big pot.
“Like a share pot but of course that’s one person eating it.”
