Anyone who had a phone back in the early 2000s will likely remember the ‘Hello Moto!’ slogan alongside that iconic snap whenever you shut your trusty flip phone.
Times have changed, but Motorola still makes mobiles – and if you’re after a no-nonsense phone capable of slightly more than just answering and making calls, this is a fantastic offer.
The £29 upfront cost and £8 monthly bill are obviously dirt-cheap prices – and there’s no point avoiding the fact this is a no-frills device.
If you want a smartphone with camera and screen quality on a par with those from the likes of Apple or Samsung, you’ll be disappointed.
But the Moto G04 is a device The Sun’s Senior Tech Writer has personal test and there were certain aspects that seriously impressed him.
‘The display [is] is a 6.6-inch HD+ screen which pops with colour and brightness but it does lack clarity,’ Jamie concedes in his Motorola Moto G04 review.
Impressively, for a handset that retails for less than £100, it’s got a facial recognition unlock function.
But like most, Jamie preferred ‘the fingerprint reader, which is handily within the unlock button along the side.’
The real star feature for this cheap-as-cheap mobile is the battery size.
That’s often one of the secret strengths of low-end devices – especially if you’re the type of person who uses it for calls, messages and little else.
Typical battery sizes are around 3,500-4,500mAh, and as Jamie writes: ‘It pretty much matches up to more expensive competition with a 5000mAh battery.’
The best part about it is that you’ll not have to hook it up to life support every few hours (like anybody with a pricey flagship smartphone, however flash they may be).
Certainly if you’ve got kids pestering you for a phone of their own, the G04 looks like a great choice.
If your budget can stretch a bit further and you don’t want to be tied down to a lengthy contract, Senior Writer Matt Breen spotted the Motorola Moto G13 slashed from £149.99 to £89 in an epic 41% price drop over on Amazon.
For those after shiny Samsung-level photos, Tech Writer Tom Tyers found the Samsung Galaxy A35 for £15 a month. The best part is that you’ll score a free pair of Galaxy Buds2 Pro worth £219 when you sign up for the contract.
