DUKES OF HAATHER (2.50 Chester, nap)

He has looked a decent prospect so far so he should be more than good enough to win this seller – a kind of race you don’t see very often these days. Adrian Keatley’s juvenile got a little stuck in the mud on his first two outings at Doncaster and Thirsk before taking a big step forward at Newmarket last time. He was much more at home on the good ground at HQ and enjoyed stepping up from the minimum trip to six furlongs. He stayed on well there so the extra distance today should be right up his street and he’s copped a decent draw in stall 3. A repeat of that Newmarket effort would be good enough.

ARCTIC MOUNTAIN (4.45 York, nb)

Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor stepped him up from a mile to this distance on turf at Lingfield last time and it did the trick nicely as he ran out a five-length winner. The ground was quick there but he’s performed in softer conditions too so a bit of juice in the Knavesmire shouldn’t be a problem. He comes out again quickly under a 5lb penalty and can follow up.

BORN RULER (3.15 Sandown, treble)

He can strike for Sir Mark Prescott. His last win came over this course and distance in September and has held his form well since. He has gone close on both starts this season with a close second on the all-weather at Lingfield followed by a half-length beating at Ayr 23 days ago. A 2lb rise in the weights looks more than fair and he can go close again.

OUTRUN THE STORM (1.40 Chester, Lucky 15)

The draw has been kind with stall one looking ideal for a horse that likes to go from the front. He is just 3lb higher than when winning at Newcastle in April and he returned to turf with a close-up fifth in a hotter race than this at Newmarket last time out. Trainer Richard Fahey has his string in good form and he can land another victory here.
