Election Overview
Alongside Pakistan, Denmark, Greece, Panama, and Somalia were also elected as non-permanent members of the UNSC for the 2025-2026 term. These newly elected members will assume their responsibilities on January 1, 2025, replacing the outgoing members from Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, and Switzerland.
The UNSC, composed of 15 members including five permanent ones (Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States), is the most powerful body of the UN.
