Australia’s economy grew by 0.1 per cent over the first three months of 2024 and 1.1 per cent over the year, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) national accounts.

Katherine Keenan, ABS head of national accounts, said GDP growth was “weak” in the March quarter, with the economy experiencing “its lowest through-the-year growth since December 2020”.

Economic activity per person fell for the fifth-consecutive quarter, dropping 0.4 per cent in March and 1.3 per cent through the year.
