Occasional Digest - a story for you

LOVE Island’s first episode is set to be the most explosive ever thanks to a never before seen twist.

In previous years the girls or boys have entered the villa and then been coupled up straight away – sometimes they pick themselves and at others times the public have chosen for them.

But this summer things will be different and it’s guaranteed to rock the villa.

Speaking from the Majorcan home last night, Love Island’s executive producer told us:  “We have changed up day one format too.

“There’ll be something very new, it’s not a public vote, but it’ll be a new way to couple up our Islanders.”

He continued: “I hope it’ll shock the Islanders and I think it will because there will be an element of a new gameplay that will lead to their couples without them knowing it.”

Asked if it meant someone could go home straight away, he teased:  “Who knows. I think the audience want [dumpings], they want to be entertained for the whole series. So it’s good to keep everyone on their toes and remind them they’re here to find love.”

It’s not the only shake-up this series, the Hideaway is also set to be different, thanks to a ‘No invite needed’ policy.

The Islanders will be able to enter whenever they want – but not with the person they are coupled up with.

Mike is hoping it will cause ‘chaos’ amongst the Islanders, telling us: “We’re up for anything, we’re up for changes. There’s so many dating shows on TV and there’s a real reason we’re in season 11 and not be afraid to do something different.”

The line-up, which was revealed this week, features a semi-professional footballer, a mental health nurse and an office administrator with Erb’s Palsy.

But Mike has promised a raft of very impressive bombshells, who are set to really heat things up.

“I know who is waiting to come in and I know they are brilliant. Bombshells are bombshells for a reason,” he teased.

“There’s some great ones coming in. I don’t want to hype it up too much but they are so good. I feel confident.”

Tune in to Love Island’s launch on Monday at 9pm on ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX.
