“Here’s how you can get free fruit from Lidl for the next month,” Becky began her TikTok video.

“Lidl are giving away free fruit who spends at least 1p in the shop and has the Lidl Plus app downloaded. ”

Becky then showed herself picking up a single lime from the shelves in Lidl for just 24p, and taking it to the checkout.

When she was paying for the lime, she scanned her Lidl Plus app, which then came up with a ‘Spin the Wheel’ game to try.

“I tapped the screen to spin the wheel to see which fruit I was able to win and I ended up getting a five pack of bananas,” she said.

While the freebie offer is valid for seven days, Becky just went back around the store to pick up some other bits she needed – as well as the free bananas.

“I scanned my card with the voucher activated and it worked out completely free!” she added.

The deal is on until 10th June and is valid once per day, Becky explained.

“A free 5 pack of bananas?? yes please!” Becky captioned her video.

The comments section was quickly filled with people weighing in on the deal, with many admitting they’d already taken advantage.

“I got a free mango or pineapple today!” one person wrote.

“This week we’ve had mango, strawberries, oranges, raspberries & peppers,” another added.

“Craving fruit like no tomorrow! Thanks for this!” a third commented.

“This is amazing,” someone else said.

As another added: “Yes! I got the bananas!”

But others weren’t quite as impressed with the freebies they were being offered.

Is eating supermarket food before you’ve paid for it allowed?

NO, it’s not. In fact, according to section 6 of the theft act 1968, it’s actually illegal.

Criminal law specialist Rachel Adamson said: “While you might have the honest intention to pay for a chocolate bar that you’ve eaten while shopping in a supermarket, it is still technically illegal.

“Buying a product at the till is what transfers the ownership from the product belonging to the shopkeeper, to it belonging to you.

“And only when that sale is complete do you have the legal right to consume or use it.”

“I’ve had so many free bananas – gutted as it’s the only fruit I hate!” one wrote.

“Hoping to get a pineapple later!”

“I’ve had a 4 pack of avocados 4 times…..I don’t eat avocado,” another raged.

As a third insisted: “Bananas is a win. I keep getting lemons!”
