But it wasn’t just her dominant display that got people talking as her elegant green dress saw her making it to the next round in style.

Tennis enthusiasts took to social media where they praised the Ukrainian star’s fashion sense, which some think is reason enough to land her the French Open.

One fan tweeted: “Is this the dress of the tournament won on day 1??”

Another commented: “And just like that, Marta Kostyuk wins the fashion game this year again at Roland-Garros.”

A third posted: “Kostyuk’s dress has absolutely won on day one, even if it turns out she doesn’t.”

This fan said: “Marta Kostyuk won this match.”

And that one wrote: “Kostyuk deserves to win RG for that GORG dress alone.”

Kostyuk earned a lot of attention and recently discussed how she deals with the publicity.

“Yes, it was a great result, but if I’m honest with you, if I was living in Ukraine I think I would get a lot of attention and a lot of press.

“Everyone would want to see me on TV and I would feel like something changed in my life.

“But I live in Monaco and, I’m sorry, but if you play quarters in a Slam, nobody cares for one second.

“Maybe if you win a Slam, maybe you are somewhat now a valuable person. But not when you play quarters.”
