Hamas has fired rockets towards Tel Aviv for the first time in months.
The armed wing of Hamas posted on its Telegram channel that rockets were launched into Israel in response to what it called “Zionist massacres against civilians”.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed a barrage of rockets had been launched from Rafah toward central Israel.
Warning sirens were heard in Tel Aviv for the first time in four months.
Israeli emergency services said they had not received any reports of casualties.
More than 1,000 people were killed on October 7 last year, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel from Gaza.
In response, Israel’s Gaza offensive has killed more than 35,000 Palestinians, local health officials say.
