She took to Reddit’s Long Hair forum to share her advice in response to a post asking for “best-kept secrets” for healthy hair.

Posting under the name Bonsaithot, she recommended the “capillary method” for stimulating growth.

LUSCIOUS LOCKS

The Redditor surprised many when she said hair should be blow-dried with warm or hot heat whenever it gets wet.

She said locks become more prone to breakage as they get longer and heavier, with strands “stretching” when wet.

“I think blow drying gets a bad rap because people don’t use a heat protectant or they shove the nozzle wayyyyy too close to the hair because they don’t invest in good quality tools,” she said.

“A lot of people struggle with fungal infections on their scalp due to the ‘no heat tools on ur hair’ (and they think it’s dandruff or build-up that just never goes away) and keeping the area dry and clean is the healthiest for most scalps.

“Leaving it wet, at body temp, and letting the yeast multiply underneath layers of hair is such a recipe for disaster.”

The Redditor said she has “thin Asian hair” that requires a lot of product as it’s platinum blonde.

She uses an affordable CHI silk protectant and Tresseme heat products so she can be “generous” with usage.

She also recommended using budget-friendly hair glosses to make tresses shiny, bouncy, and less prone to split ends.

“Color Wow Dream Coat, Tresemme Clear Gloss, Kristen Ess glosses have different colors. They’re all great!” she said.

The Redditor revealed a gua sha comb can also be beneficial for reducing the tension that’s preventing full-capacity blood flow to the hair.

“Use powder dry shampoo, not aerosol,” she added

“The alcohols in aerosol dry shampoo can be irritating to the hair follicles.

“Powder is even more effective and gentle.

“It’s just an extra 30 seconds to work it in.”

How can you avoid a scalp infection?

Scalp infections can be prevented by not creating a warm and moist environment for yeast to thrive.

According to Healthline, personal hygiene keeps scalps healthy.

It is recommended not to go to bed with wet hair and completely dry it after a shower or exercise.

Experts also recommend not sharing personal items such as towels or combs.

It may be worth speaking to a doctor if your scalp is inflamed, or tender and your hair is fragile or brittle.

If you suspect that you may have a scalp yeast infection use a different towel on the infected area and avoid touching your scalp.

Many people up-voted the Reddit post to share their appreciation for the hair growth tips.

SUPERB STRANDS

According to Vitta Gold Cosmetics, the capillary method is suitable for all hair types.

It involves hydrating locks with moisturizers, nourishing with an ingredient such as coconut oil or castor oil, and reconstructing with a product that helps damaged hair.

The technique improves hair health and reduces shedding.
