BRENTFORD have revealed the players they will be releasing at the end of the season.

And their list includes Bees cult hero, Neal Maupay and former Manchester United loanee Sergio Reguilon.

Shandon Baptiste, Saman Ghoddos and Charlie Goode will all also leave the club on the expiration of their contracts.

Maupay, 27, has admitted that he is “one of the most disliked players” in the league for his on-field antics that often see him winding up the opposition.

The forward has had high-profile confrontations with Manchester City‘s Kyle Walker and Tottenham’s James Maddison this season but can be seen winding his opposition up in pretty much any game.

He’s been impressive this season after rejoining the club on loan following a nightmare spell at Everton, and the club retain an option to buy the forward.

Director of football Phil Giles has explained the club will “pause” their decision on whether to sign Maupay permanently.

That’s because they have already agreed to bring in forward Igor Thiago from Club Brugge this summer.

Giles said: “Neal has made a massive contribution to Brentford during both of his spells with the club. He has completely justified the decision to bring him back on loan, contributing important goals and being a key part of the squad.

“Brentford retains the option to bring Neal back permanently if we wish, but we have explained that we will pause that decision for now, having already signed Igor Thiago from Club Brugge.”

Addressing his likely release from the club, Maupay posted a heartfelt video tribute to the club on his X account.

He captioned the post: “Brentford. What can I say. A pleasure to have been here a second time. Much love and see you all this afternoon at the Gtech ❤️🐝”

Spurs loanee Reguilon will return to the North London club, and Giles’ statement does not imply they will look to bring the left-back in permanently this summer.

He said: Sergio was the perfect player at the perfect time for us.

“It was a loan that, at best, would suit both parties and that is exactly the way that it has turned out.

“Sergio has enjoyed being with us and played a significant number of minutes which will set him up well for next season, wherever that may be.”

Reguilon enjoyed a similarly opportunistic loan earlier in the season at Manchester United.

That was cancelled in January after Luke Shaw recovered fitness, and allowed Spurs to loan the former Real Madrid man to the Bees.
