Brighton 0-1 Chelsea
49: I should probably mention that Celtic are cruising towards their 54th Scottish title. Currently 4-0 up against Kilmarnock.
Back at the Amex Stadium, Nicolas Jackson finds Christopher Nkunku with a wayward pass. The forward runs wide to collect it before cutting onto his right and pinging a low effort wide of the target. If that Jackson pass had been better — it could well have been 2-0.
Brighton 0-1 Chelsea
47: Penalty appeal! Simon Adingra goes down under a challenge from Malo Gusto. Just having another look… VAR decides there’s not enough contact for a spot-kick despite a clash of knees.
Roberto de Zerbi is having a word with the fourth official about it.
Brighton 0-1 Chelsea
45: Right then, as things stand Chelsea have themselves a lovely Europa League spot to look forward to next season. If things stayed the same, all they would need is a point on the final day against Bournemouth to clinch sixth.
A win against Bournemouth and Tottenham lose to Sheffield United – they could even get up to fifth!
We’re back underway. Lewis Dunk comes off having failed to recover from that knock earlier. He’s replaced by teenage Argentine full-back Valentin Barco with Igor moving alongside Adam Webster.
Brighton 0-1 Chelsea
HT: Chelsea take a deserved lead into the break. It could really have been more than that with Nicolas Jackson’s miss and his disallowed goal. Brighton have pieced a few nice things together but haven’t gone close other than that Joao Pedro effort a few moments ago.
Brighton 0-1 Chelsea
52: Nicolas Jackson has another opportunity to double Chelsea’s lead but he’s struck Conor Gallagher’s wicked low cross miles over the crossbar.
Woodwork! Joao Pedro strikes the bar with a firm header from Tariq Lamptey’s cross. Did Dorde Petrovic get a touch? Might have been. Very faint.
Brighton 0-1 Chelsea
49: Disallowed goal! Nicolas Jackson heads the ball into the back of the Brighton net to make it 2-0 to the visitors but referee Michael Salisbury has blown his whistle. It’s been chalked off for a two-handed push by the Chelsea striker. Might also have been offside actually.
Once again, I wouldn’t mind seeing another replay of that. Didn’t look hugely forceful.
