However, new research by travel insurance experts PayingTooMuch has analysed 30 of the top waterparks in Europe, to determine is the most affordable to visit in 2024.

The study has taken into account the price of a ticket for two adults and two children, showing how much it costs for a family of four to visit.

According to the research, Nettebad in Osnabrück, Germany is the most affordable waterpark in Europe.

The park promises “adrenaline and fun”, as well as “relaxation and rejuvenation” with rides for younger visitors and spa facilities for adults.

Among its attractions are the Crazy River tire slide, the Black Hole, a flume that plunges people into total darkness, the Twist funnel slide, and the Sloop, described as a rocket launch slide.

There are also whirlpools, a children’s pool, water walls, a wave ball and an outdoor pool that offers year-round outdoor bathing.

For adults, there’s an adjoining sauna world, with several different themed saunas and a sauna garden.

It has a natural bathing pond and an outdoor saltwater pool, while guests can also get massages and cosmetic treatments.

Away from the spa and the slides, there’s also an indoor electric go-kart track, with 470 metres of track.

The study revealed that a trip to the park costs £57.54 for two adults and two children. Meanwhile, an adult ticket alone is £15.50.

Anyone heading to a waterpark this summer has also been warned to make sure that they’re properly insured, in case of any unfortunate accidents.

Darren Saunders from PayingTooMuch said: “While there’s a lot of fun to be had at waterparks, accidents do sometimes happen.

“With this in mind, you should make sure your travel insurance covers you for any medical emergencies or accidents while abroad.

“Most policies will cover you for these kinds of water-based activities, however, you’ll need to check that the waterpark itself is established and has the right personal liability insurance.

“Make sure you always follow the rules of the park too. If you end up in an accident and it turns out you were acting in a way that goes against those regulations, this might invalidate your insurance.”

Meanwhile, these seven UK holiday parks have their own waterparks.

And this lesser-known waterpark has 28 slides, 14 swimming pools and 30C temperatures all year.
