Two people have been arrested after seven puppies were allegedly abandoned in Adelaide’s north-western suburbs.
A member of the public alerted police to the red heeler puppies allegedly dumped from a vehicle next to the Port River on March 30.
SA Police said attending officers found the puppies running along the beach and some were rescued from the water.
All puppies were checked over by a veterinarian and handed to a rescue organisation to find their forever homes.
Police said a 51-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man were arrested today and charged with seven counts of ill treatment of an animal.
Detectives and RSPCA inspectors attended the pair’s Athol Park property, where they found the vehicle allegedly spotted at the scene.
Three dogs were seized from the address.
Both were bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court next month.
