And singer Gary said his performance had “saved the day”.

Daniel had been performing at a hotel near the Hydro in Glasgow when the news about Olly broke.

Telly host Ross King happened to be in the bar and when Take That pal Gary jokingly asked if he knew of any singers available at short notice, he told him about Daniel.

Within an hour, he was performing to 14,000 fans.

Daniel said: “It’s hard to take it in, it’s surreal.

“It was fast.

“I met Gary and the guys 20 minutes before going on and we talked about what songs to do.

“It was great, I got some good singalongs with the crowd and it felt like they were behind me.”

Take That’s Mark Owen also thanked him.

Hotel boss Graham Chalmers said: “It was strange when I looked over and saw Danny put his coat on and lift his guitar, but how can you stand in the way of that sort of opportunity?”
