Georgia showed followers on TikTok what her new pad looked like when she first moved it, and it’s safe to say she was overjoyed with it all.

The entire space looked like it had been recently renovated with fresh grey carpets, white walls and even a brand new patio in the garden.

Understandably, Georgia was buzzing about her new home and couldn’t wait to make it her own.

Commenters on the viral clip felt the same way and congratulated Georgia, one said: “Omg my dreams, my girls dreams come true,” she caption the home tour video.

“That’s an amazing council house aren’t you lucky! Good luck it’s fantastic,” a second wrote.

“This is beautiful, I’m so happy for you,” someone else chimed in.

And another said: “Your house is amazing! Can’t believe it’s a council house.”

In a follow up viral video show revealed how she made the house her home without breaking the bank.

A huge Ikea mirror in her bedroom made a huge difference the the space, but it was the cheap lights from Primark that made it looks so expensive.

The renter explained that she simply stuck the lights to the outer rim of the mirror for a luxurious look, leaving users stunned.

The lights cost just £2, she revealed, so they won’t leave a huge dint in your wallet either.

Georgia also filled her wardrobe with bargain buys from Vinted, not that you’d ever be able to tell they’re second hand.

The wardrobes, which also appear to be from Ikea, look incredibly expensive, despite their budget-friendly price tag.

To level up her bed, Georgia also nabbed so bedding from Asda, which looks so cosy.

People were quick to praise Georgia’s home styling choices, one commented: “You’re home is so beautiful.”

“Oh wow I love this,” another said.

What is a council house swap?

A council house swap, also known as a mutual exchange, is a scheme for people who live in a council or housing association property who would like to swap their home with another tenant.

People often swap to get a larger or smaller home or to move to a different area.

When you mutually exchange your home, you are swapping tenancies with someone else.

Anyone with a full secure or fixed-term social housing tenancy in their name with a clear rent account can do a mutual exchange.

You cannot swap your home if you:

  • have an introductory tenancy
  • have a probationary tenancy
  • are in temporary housing

If you want to spruce up your home on a budget like Georgia, there are a few savvy tricks you can try out.

Upcycle items you already have

Before we buy something new, one way to save would be to repurpose or upcycle old items you already have.

Upcycling or repurposing can give items you already own a new life.

It can also make them feel like a new item for a fraction of the price.

Some easy ways to upcycle could be as simple as painting furniture or décor items you have to match a new colour scheme.

A great way to repurpose items is to use items like old dust-bins as plant pots.

Second-hand items

One of the absolute best things you can do for your budget when decorating your home is looking into second-hand decor.

While it is tempting to buy entirely new decor for your home, you can find extremely unique items in great condition when you search for second-hand furniture.

While seasoned thrifters will find the process easy, it can be intimidating to get started.

Some things to look out for damaged that can be repaired such as extreme staining, missing stuffing, water damage or burn marks.

It can also be difficult to find some places to find pre-loved furnishings, so here are some places to start.

Online marketplaces

It can also save you time, as there are tons of great online marketplaces where you can find your dream decor for very low prices or even free.
