A NSW police officer has been charged with multiple alleged domestic violence offences following an investigation.
According to NSW Police, the senior constable was charged with five counts of common assault DV, three counts of stalk or intimidate intend fear physical harm DV and two counts of use carriage service to menace or harass or offend and assault occasioning actual bodily harm DV.
The investigation into the officer in question was launched following a report, made in November 2023, of multiple alleged domestic violence incidents.
Police issued the 28-year-old officer with a court attendance notice on May 1.
Following further investigations, the same officer was arrested today.
The officer was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Picton Local Court on May 16.
The man was also charged with 14 counts of alleged access or modify restricted data held in computer and he will appear before Liverpool Local Court on June 12.
He has been suspended with pay.
An ABC analysis of data obtained by Freedom of Information found that 37 NSW police officers were charged with domestic violence in 2022 and 2023.
According to figures from the Australian Institute of Criminology, there were 75 women killed by homicide in the 2022-23 financial year.
Almost half (49 per cent) were killed by a current or former intimate partner.
