‘What is this saucery?’ McDonald’s fans wonder as they spot VITAL change to their BBQ dip & say it ‘tastes out of date’

IF YOU’VE had a McDonald’s recently and thought your BBQ dip tasted a bit different, you aren’t the only one.

One fast food fan took to TikTok to share a video pointing out the difference between the “new” dip, and one they’d been given at the eatery previously.

“When your autism senses the singular ingredient change on the Maccies BBQ sauce,” they wrote over the top of the clip.

They then zoomed in on the packaging for the dips, with one stating that the first ingredient is “sugar”, while the other listed “glucose-fructose syrup” as the first ingredient.

The dip with sugar listed first has glucose-fructose syrup as the fourth ingredient, and vice versa – both on the dip packaging and on the McDonald’s website.

In fact, on the McDonald’s website itself, the ingredients of the two dips, with an “either/or” caveat.

Another difference in the ingredients is that the dip with sugar as the first ingredient has “natural flavourings” and “citric acid”, while the one with glucose-fructose syrup first has “smoke flavourings” and no citric acid.

The TikToker tagged McDonald’s in the caption, adding: “Babes what is this saucery??”

And people were quick to comment on the clip, with many admitting they’d also noticed a change to the sauce.

“It tastes so sour I thought I had been given one out of date till I checked and it wasn’t,” one wrote.

To which the poster added: “This was me, I opened three packets and then dug out an old one and was like HOLD UP!”

“It has completely ruined it,” another added.

“BBQ was one of the best – it’s the worst now.

“Why change it?

“There was nothing wrong with it – think you need to change the BBQ @McDonalds, it was a mistake to change it.”

“Omg same and I literally work there i was so concerned,” a third commented.

“Tastes like pure honey to me and I hate honey,” someone else added.

“So I’m not the only one who thinks they taste different?” another said.

“I thought I was the only one who thought it tasted different!” someone else sighed.

“I thought it tasted funny the other day,” another wrote.

“I was even checking for mould in the sauce!”

“My favourite sauce, now it tastes like sugary fruit?” someone else commented.

As another admitted: “Hahaha I had a McDonald’s about 20 minutes ago.

The differences between the two dips – if only in order used – have been underlined, and highlighted in bold.

“I thought I was going crazy – everyone told me it tasted exactly the same, I’m so glad someone else has noticed,” someone else wrote.

While another said: “Thank you for this video. I KNEW there was something different.”
