But not DIY-loving dad Shaun Nyland who recently transformed his ”boring” bedroom on a budget, spending a mere £30 in the process.
According to the crafty parent, the room, which boasted an all-grey aesthetic, was pretty dull, and he’d decided to zhuzh it up with a feature wall on the cheap.
To achieve the Fabulous makeover, Shaun used MDF sheets, which you can find at stores such as Wickes and B&Q, and measured them to ensure an even fit.
Next, the dad demonstrated in the video, he attached one of them horizontally at the bottom of the stained wall using glue.
Meanwhile, to create a more 3D effect using some the sheets vertically, Shaun grabbed a spirit level to make sure the end result wasn’t wonky.
Unfortunately for the DIY enthusiast, who posts under the username @shaun.nyland, he had also encountered a little problem during the project – the socket was getting in the way of one of the cuts.
But rather than changing the existing placement of the MDF sheet panels, Shaun quickly came up with a brilliant solution – to measure the panel and cut it into two, leaving some room for the socket.
Once the bedroom panel was finally ready, the crafty dad proceeded to apply caulk.
”Before we get into the paintwork, though, I’m just gonna quickly caulk around the whole thing […] – just gives you a much cleaner finish.”
”Honestly, I think anybody could do this – and if you want to give it a go, I’ve linked everything I used on my profile.”
Another key step he didn’t skip was going over with some filler, which you can find on Amazon for around £3.
All chuffed with the transformation, which he had finished with a pot of black paint, Shaun said: ”There we go, a £30 bedroom update.
”I’m buzzing!” added the 32-year-old who said he was not planning on painting the top of the wall white.
