Now he has announced his participation in a brand new project: a celebrity football match to raise money for charity.

Paul managed to recruit several celebrities for the kick about, ranging from The Gentleman’s heartthrob Chris Evangelou to Loose Women panelist Linda Robson.

The money raised by the event will be donated to the only Children’s Hospice in Essex.

It is set to take place at Bowers Sports and Social Club in Basildon, and will include surprise A-list guests as well as a live set by three DJs.

Paul shared the news in an Instagram post, writing: “It gives me great pleasure to announce another production by ‘Paul Danan Presents’. This time it’s for the most worthwhile cause in the world I would say and that is for Children’s Hospices.

“I have chosen to be a part of something that not only is for good friends @fattysbar20 but is where i grew up and that is in ESSEX.

“This Hospice happens to be the only Children’s Hospice in Essex and i am so proud to be asked to raise money for them.

“They are none other than the incredible ‘Little Havens Hospice.’ So why not do a Celebrity Football Match!

“So I got my phonebook out and called everyone I knew and the response has been overwhelming!

“When you build it they will come and believe me they have!

“I am so grateful to all my friends in the industry who have agreed to help such a worthy cause.

“So make sure you get on down there on the Sat 25th May 2024 , come and make a difference to these beautiful children’s lives.”

Paul,  who played Sol Patrick in Hollyoaks from 1997 to 2001, featured on the very first Celebrity Love Island in 2005 but has spent most of his life battling addiction.

Before his involvement with Little Havens Hospice the actor also set up a drama school especially for people struggling with addiction after landing a lottery grant last year.

An insider told The Sun: “It’s no secret that Paul has battled his demons over the years but now he has channelled all of that into something that can be really proud of.

“He is helping turn lives around by combining both his acting talents and industry knowledge with his own hard won experience of recovery.

“Getting a grant from the lottery is just what the initiative needs to go to the next level and help as many people in the community as possible.”
