The Labour leader said he welcomed the police investigation into how his deputy, Angela Rayner, handled the sale of a home.

Sir Keir Starmer said it would “allow a line to be drawn” to the claims which have been circulating over which house she lived in, when her former council house was sold.

It comes after Greater Manchester Police said it would look in the claims made by Conservative Party deputy chairman James Daly.
