ONE former retail worker has dealt with her fair share of rude customers.

Still, one encounter in particular took the complaining cake.

In a viral video, Lowe’s worker Amelia (@ailema_faith) responded to another worker who observed how the boomer generation hates “getting the same energy back.”

The hardware giant employee couldn’t agree more after her own enlightening experience.

DAUNTING DEMANDS

It all started on one “crazy busy” day when she was the only person working across two departments.

In between cutting blinds and tinting paint, a disrespectful shopper was the last thing she needed.

While running back and forth, one customer couldn’t help but run her mouth.

The shopper was in need of some help – but she made it clear that she didn’t want it from her.

She rudely demanded that she call someone to teach her to hang a picture because she “didn’t want help from an 18-year-old girl.”

Explaining that she was actually 20 didn’t seem to make any difference either.

Thinking she was doing exactly what the woman wanted, she proceeded to call her manager.

It didn’t take long, however, for the situation to escalate.

She relayed the message to her boss, asking for her to come and assist the customer who “didn’t want help from an 18-year-old girl.”

A TASTE OF HER OWN MEDICINE

The customer then “went off” on both her and her manager.

She simply couldn’t understand what the problem was.

After all, all she had done was repeat to her manager exactly what she had wanted.

In the end, it only got her into trouble.

RETAIL REALITY

Her fans seemed to be able to relate as they shared their own shocking stories.

“I had a lady who wanted to return a gift card and I told her ten times over ‘no.’ She wanted a manager,” said one follower.

“I proudly called and said, ‘can you come up here to tell this customer the exact same thing I told her,'” she added.

“The amount of times I’ve been given the most disrespectful, condescending advice from boomers in my teens and twenties while working retail was insane,” said another viewer.

“When I worked at Starbucks this lady told me she didn’t want me to help her and she was going to wait until my coworker came back to help her,” said one watcher.

“I said ‘okay’ and just stood there. I was working by myself,” she added.

Others had their own views on how things needed to change within the retail space.

“Companies and managers need to start backing their employees! The amount of times a customer gets what they want – against company policy – just because is insane,” said one viewer.

“I would have said ‘can you come help this lady who has gone her whole life without knowing how to hang a picture,'” joked one follower.

According to a Gallop Poll, 56% of employees in the US have noticed that customer demands have changed dramatically since the pandemic.

The top change noted was that customers expect higher levels of customer service.
