Since her exit from the daytime favourite, which came amid growing tensions with Phillip, Fern has stayed largely out of the spotlight.

However, it is now believed that she is keen to take on more TV work after reaching the final of the ITV contest.

Fern first made a grand return to the show as a guest where she was interviewed by new hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley and it is thought the show’s crew were delighted to be in the presence of the star once again.

Insiders have since told Mail Plus that with Phillip firmly out of the picture, they have set their sights on recruiting Fern back into the ITV fold with a slew of top jobs.

While it is thought that she won’t be offered her old gig back on This Morning, executives are thought to be considering opportunities for the star as a regular cover presenter on Lorraine or working alongside fellow ex-This Morning star Ruth Langsford on Loose Women.

A source told the publication: “For many of the bosses it is a no-brainer to use her as much as they can, and of course as much as Fern wants to commit.

“She is the most experienced and talented of broadcasters and is absolutely adored by the British public.”

Insiders added that Fern is also keen on taking up residence within ITV daytime once again and was spurred to make a return to television after gaining a new lease of life following Phillip’s exit from the channel.

The source added: “With Phil no longer at ITV calling the shots like he did before, there are many opportunities for Fern.

“He wielded so much power there that if you crossed him, you were done for. That was where Fern found herself, it was pretty awful back them but time is a great healer.”

After her exit from CBB, Fern admitted she was keen to relive the “magic of television” but was not expecting to be handed any other high-profile roles.

Fern originally begun appearing on This Morning in 1999 and was given the role of lead host in 2002 and was eventually joined by Phillip later in the year.

However, the star quit in 2009 after relations with Phillip soured.
