Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns defended his title against Cody Rhodes at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The bout was contested in a Bloodlines Rules Match, which suited Reigns as he called all the shots and that allowed all his team-mates, including his cousin Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, to interfere.
Rhodes had The Head of the Table beat as he was getting ready to deliver his third Cross Rhodes but Jimmy Uso took him down with a Superkick.
However, Jey Uso rushed to the ring and took his twin brother out with a Spear that saw them landing on two tables next to the stage.
But as Rhodes was ready to put his rival away once more, Reigns‘ other cousin Solo Sikoa interfered and knocked him out with a Samoan Spike.
That was when Cena made a shock return to help The American Nightmare even the odds.
The 16-time world champion took both Sikoa and The Tribal Chief out with a pair of Attitude Adjustments, with the former going through the announce desk.
But that was when The Rock’s music hit and he rushed to the ring to confront his legendary rival, who looked like he saw a ghost.
The ex-WWE Champion took a swing at Johnson, but he as too quick as he delivered a thunderous Rock Bottom.
The drama, though, didn’t end there as The Shield’s music started to echo around the arena.
Many though that would have been Jon Moxley, but instead it was Seth Rollins in full Shield gear trying to attack The Rock with a steel chair.
The Visionary was caught by his former Shield team-mate Reigns who took him out with a Superman Punch.
The cousins thought they had it in the bag and were getting ready to put Rhodes out.
But that was when Undertaker‘s legendary gong echoed around the Linc with the fans going absolutely berserk.
The lights went off and Taker appeared behind the Hollywood megastar whom he took out with a vicious Chokeslam.
Reigns looked absolutely lost after all the drama and that allowed Rhodes to hit one final Cross Rhodes to finish his story and win his first ever world title.
The 38-year-old was then joined in the ring by a series of stars, such as CM Punk, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, LA Knight, Jey, Cena, Triple H and his wife Brandi to celebrate his triumph as he ended Reigns’ whopping 1,316-day title stint.
