Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden has said Israel is conducting a legitimate campaign, in a “very, very difficult environment”.
Speaking on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, Mr Dowden added that the government’s advice on UK arms sales to Israel has not changed.
He said the UK would stop supplying Israel with weapons if it was found to be in breach of international law.
Shadow cabinet minister David Lammy told the BBC that Foreign Secretary David Cameron should update MPs with legal advice he received last month.
