His arrival in Asia was greeted with much excitement from fans, with 51,670 packing into Seoul World Cup Stadium to witness his home debut.

Lingard’s manager Kim, however, has been less enthused about the attacking midfielder’s impact.

The ex-England international is yet to start a game for FC Seoul.

Commenting on Lingard, Kim, 52, said: “I’ve been thinking a lot about removing Jesse.

“I don’t think a player who doesn’t run for a few minutes is a football player.

“If he doesn’t fight, and doesn’t run better than the player who runs for 90 minutes?”

With the K-League season having kicked off earlier this month, Lingard featured from the bench in their opening three games.

He missed today’s 1-1 draw at Gangwon altogether, having suffered with a meniscus injury.

Lingard was also criticised by boss Kim after his most recent appearance, a half-hour cameo during a 2-0 win over Jeju United.

FC Seoul are seventh in the 12-team K-League, having won just once in their first four games.

Lingard is yet to provide a goal or an assist for his new club.

His team features former Swansea, Newcastle, Sunderland and Celtic midfielder Ki-Sung-yueng.

The early league leaders are Gimcheon Sangmu, a team wholly comprised of players undergoing their mandatory two-year military service.
