How much do families make on Gogglebox?

A Gogglebox insider told The Sun Online that each of the families taking part are handed a monthly family allowance of £1,500.

The amount is then split amongst contributing family members at their own discretion.

The monthly wage comes with its own added perks and each of the families receives free takeaways to keep them going through each sitting.

Each of the families is expected to commit to 12 hours of filming a week across two six-hour shifts.

The Essex-based Gilbey family comprises of Lynne and Peter and their son George.

Lynne and Pete have fostered over 68 children over the past 16 years and biological son George who welcomed his first child, a daughter named Amelie, into the world in 2016.

The family were briefly dropped from Gogglebox in 2014 – because George decided to appear on Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother – but were reinstated afterward.

Reality stars and celebrities are paying tribute to George Gilbey after news broke of his tragic death.

George’s sister confirmed the news of his death, writing online: “Rest in eternal paradise brother. Far too young but god only takes the best.”

Ex-EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook paid tribute on social media, writing: “Gone too soon. Good night, my darling friend George. I’m absolutely gutted xxx.”

Ex on the Beach star Ricci Guarnaccio who also appeared in Celebrity Big Brother with George wrote, “Breaks my heart. George you are well and truly going to be missed my friend.

“Always lit up the room, cared for others and the memories we made I’ll cherish for ever brother.”

Gilbey was all smiles just days before tragic death

Recent photos of George Gilbey revealed that the Gogglebox star was all smiles before his tragic death.

He was seen smiling in a selfie posted to social media just five days ago.

George appeared to have been working out and posed alongside a pic of a gym card. The caption read, “Done. Full membership.”

“This will hit his family very hard, especially Linda. First, she lost Pete, now her son as well,” the friend continued.

“She is incredibly emotional. George was like her little treasure.”

A group of George’s friends reportedly met up at a local pub near his home to celebrate his life over a drink.

George’s relationship with his mum Linda and stepdad Pete was shown on Googlebox in 2013. The family quickly became fan-favourites.
