But Duffy, now 39, checked in with her followers in a very rare post on Instagram last night.

The singer whose real name is Aimée Duffy, shared an animated video from an artist with music over the top and a man’s voice that spoke about the secret to happiness.

The voice said: “You’re going to realise it one day that happiness was never about your job or your degree or being in a relationship [or] following in the footsteps of all of those who came before you.”

The voice continues: “It was never about being like the others…

“Happiness was always about the discovery, the hope, the listening to your heart, and following it wherever it chose to go. [It] was always about being kinder to yourself.”

The singer captioned it “A little something to motivate the heart on a Monday.

“Hope you are all doing well. Lots of love, Duffy.”

Fans were quick to reply as they reached out, and one commented below her post: “We miss you Duffy.

“We love you and hope and wish you are happy, fulfilled and where your heart wants you to be.

“Stay authentic and truthful to your own compass and only sail to where you are becoming the you you want to be. Sending you lots of positive energy and hugs!”

One more posted: “So much love from Wales. We are all behind you Duffy. I wish you good health, so much love and happiness.”

She made her last post in 2020, sharing a picture from a black and white photoshoot.

Duffy made her breakthrough in 2007 with her debut album, Rockferry.

The record was a huge success and saw her bag three Brits and a Grammy Award – selling seven million copies worldwide.

What were Duffy’s biggest hits?

Mercy (2008)

Warwick Avenue (2008)

Rain On Your Parade (2009)

Rockferry (2007)

Stepping Stone (2009)

However, her follow up album Endlessly, released in 2010, bombed and saw her take a hiatus from music.

Since then Duffy has switched to acting, appearing in movies like Patagonia (2010) and Legend (2015).

In 2020, Welsh star revealed she spent four weeks in brutal captivity and was left close to committing suicide.

She said she was raped in the emotional open letter, and recalled the moment her life changed for ever at an unspecified point during the past ten years.
