Announcement is part of a series of top-level staff changes at embattled US plane maker.

Boeing says Chief Executive Officer Dave Calhoun will step down at the end of the year as part of a management shake-up at the embattled US aircraft manufacturer.

The company also said on Monday that chairman Larry Kellner would leave the board and be replaced by Steve Mollenkopf. Stan Deal, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO, will retire, and Stephanie Pope will lead that business.

Calhoun has been under pressure since a 737 MAX plane door blew out 5,000 metres (16,000ft) above the ground.

Boeing is facing heavy regulatory scrutiny, and US authorities curbed production while it attempts to fix safety and quality issues.
