So it’s little wonder green-fingered shoppers are racing to Tesco, after spotting olive trees on sale for just £15 each.
“Olive trees are back! In Tesco! £15 each,” one person wrote alongside a picture in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook.
And other people were quick to take to the comments section to weigh in on the new arrival.
“Gonna try to get a couple!” one wrote.
“I like these,” another added.

“Olive trees everywhere hahaha,” a third laughed.
“Love these,” someone else admitted.
“I want two of these for the pergola,” another commented.
“Are these quite hardy out of interest?” someone else asked.
“Yes they are,” another replied.
“Mine never comes indoors.
“It has been in a cold greenhouse in winter for the last 10 years. I bring it back out in summer.
“That’s an excellent price for them!”
As someone else said: “I live in the north east of Scotland, I’ve had one for 4 years and it’s growing huge!
“I’ve done nothing to protect it in the winter.”
“They had willow trees for £14 too which I thought was a brill price,” another said.
Someone else asked if the trees fruit in the UK, to which someone else said that they do.
And others revealed they’d bought the trees in previous years, and they’re still doing well.
“For anyone asking if they’re growing well, this is mine,” one wrote, sharing a picture of her enormous trees.
“I bought it about 9 years ago in Tesco and it was really small.
“It had olives on it a few times too!”
“I bought one last year and it’s doing well! Lots of new growth,” another added.
As a third commented: “I bought one about 8 years ago, and it’s up to the bedroom window now!”
