The savvy motorist, who goes by @towtruckwags on TikTok, shared the handy feature which can solve your problems on the road.
He explained how a simple move can shift your car into neutral, which can be life-saving in case it suddenly breaks down.
By doing so, drivers can easily move their vehicles off a busy area, saving their lives from risk and protecting others from what could have been a nasty accident.
All you need is a key and a screwdriver.
The small feature usually sits next to your shifting gear, shaped like a tiny circle.
Once you remove its lid, carefully and slowly insert the screwdriver into the whole, successfully putting even the most stubborn motors into neutral.
Filming a real-life example during one of his towing jobs with a Subaru, he said: “Let me tell you a little secret about most cars. Almost every car has this.
He explained how the model he was towing, which appeared to be a large Subaru SUV, won’t start or do anything, let alone goninto neutral.
“This car I’m towing won’t start, won’t do nothing. And this model will not go into neutral unless it’s on,” he said.
“So what do you do? Find your handy keychain [or] a key that has a hidden knife inside.
“You get the hidden knife and pry this little dot open.”
The tow truck driver said almost every car will have that but most people don’t know what is it for.
He continued: “Find your closest screwdriver, penetrate the hole nice and slow, and then ram it in there.
“Yep. It’s a magic neutral button.”
His followers were left shocked, sharing their excitement knowing they won’t have to stress on the road anymore.
One wrote: “I love the neutral switches. Made life much easier for us deck drivers.”
But some weren’t too surprised, as another commented: “I honestly thought this was common sense. I refuse to believe I’m more intelligent than the mass.”
It comes after another driver revealed an “exclusive” button in certain motors to de-ice windscreens fast – but does your car have one?
Motorist Joe, who goes by @mrjturner on TikTok, said Ford drivers “feel like they are winning” with the special feature which makes de-icing windscreens a dream.
Filming his dashboard, Joe said the bottom button on his Ford Fiesta offers a heated windscreen function.
He wrote: “Any other Ford owners feel like they are winning – that heated windscreen button though…”
A heated windscreen can make all the difference while driving in cold weather.
It can reduce frost, ice, and moisture, giving you a clearer view of the road and making your drive safer and more comfortable.
