Occasional Digest - a story for you

AMAZON has just launched its Spring Sale and there’s an exceptional Echo deal that car drivers should take a look at.

The online giant has reduced the Echo Auto – an Alexa speaker designed for cars – from £59.99 down to £29.99.

This 50% discount is probably why the Echo Auto is currently climbing up Amazon’s best-selling devices page – shoppers can’t get enough of this handy bargain gadget.

Amazon’s Spring Deal Days event kicked off this morning (20th March) and will run until next Monday (25th March).

And, as is always the way with big Amazon sales, some of the best discounts are on the retailer’s line on smart devices.

We’ve seen Fire streaming sticks, Echo Dots and Ring video doorbells all with their prices slashed.

But in sheer savings terms, this half-price smart speaker is one of the best available.

The Echo Auto is a tiny little device that you can clip to the dashboard of your car, and power via a cable.

It charges either via USB (if your car has a port) or through its electric socket via an adaptor that’s included.

After that, it’s simply a case of pairing it with the Alexa app on your smartphone, and then you’ve got hands-free voice control in your car – simple as, really.

Without the touch of a single button, drivers can queue up songs on Spotify, listen to the news, and make and receive phone calls.

You can even use the Echo Auto to operate other synced smart devices – so imagine being on your drive home from work and asking Alexa to switch on the smart lights or heating.

The Echo Auto has racked up an average rating of 4.2 out of 5 on the Amazon website, alongside a pile-up of positive reviews.

One shopper writes: ‘Crystal-clear hands free calling and messaging, and radio and music as well. All through the Aux socket on my old Vauxhall Corsa D… Amazing piece of kit.’

Another buyer comments: ‘I can control my smart home from my car- from lights to smart plugs, even my heating. It works great for listening to music and all the radio stations.

‘It connects to your phone by Bluetooth: that’s it. Definitely worth the money. I use mine all the time.’

This isn’t the only knockout car gadget deal we’ve seen lately: last week, tech deals reporter Tom Tyers spotted an Apple CarPlay adapter reduced from £48 to £37 on Amazon.
