The combination of suds and songs increases the release of a brain chemical that strengthens the bond between lovers.
And the study even found it can slash the odds of divorce and “deepens understanding and empathy within a relationship”.
The report says: “Singing songs with deep emotional content in the shower together can significantly deepen the emotional bond between partners.
“Music and singing naturally release dopamine — known as the ‘feel-good’ neurotransmitter in the brain.
“This chemical boost not only elevates mood but also enhances feelings of happiness and satisfaction within the relationship, contributing to a more positive shared environment.”
It adds: “The act of singing has been scientifically shown to lower stress levels by reducing cortisol in the body.
“Singing together in the shower offers a dual benefit — acting as a stress relief activity that also fosters emotional closeness, thereby reducing potential triggers for marital discord.”
A spokesman for bathroom firm Plumbworld, which commissioned the study, claimed: “Singing songs in the shower together can boost happiness and help couples feel closer.
“It shows how music and doing things together can enhance our relationships. It’s a fun way to communicate more.”
