While many of us spend our lives in our cars, it’s probably fair to say that we don’t know all the features of our motor.

But this car fanatic, who goes by xiaozhujiado6666 on TikTok, has shared the easy trick to making your car beep whenever you lock it.

Some cars already have this as a built-in function, but others don’t so she explains how to set it up yourself.

The driving guru kicks off the video by pressing a button so that her car makes a hugely satisfying beep sound.

“Did you hear that? That’s the sound my car horn makes when I press the lock button,” she said.

“Not everyone will set this feature up. It’s actually very simple.”

The TikToker – who drives a Nissan – told her fans that you need to press both the lock button and unlock button at the same time.

You then hold them both down for three seconds.

Her car then responds with another satisfying beep.

“When we hear the ‘beep’ sound, this function is now set up,” she explained.

“From now on, as long as we press the lock button, the car horn will sound.”

For any naysayers who might believe this is a “useless” hack, she explained that it has three important functional uses.

Firstly, if you lose your car in a parking lot – you can press the button and by recognising the sound of its horn, find your way back to it.

Secondly, it removes the chance of you leaving a door open accidentally as the horn will not sound unless it is properly locked.

If it beeps, it provides you with an audible confirmation that the car is all secure and “you can leave with peace of mind,” she said.

Thirdly, the car enthusiast added that it helps “to scare away bad guys”.

If anyone was to touch your car or try and get inside, she explained, it would sound the alarm frantically.
