Occasional Digest - a story for you

LOVE Island alumni Georgia Steel has finally told fans how to recreate her iconic half-up-half-down hairstyle.

The ‘do became a staple style during her most recent stint in the villa, with fans begging the 25-year-old for a tutorial ever since.

She took to TikTok to demonstrate the process from start to finish, which includes a £3.99 styling gel and £3 “nostalgic” hairspray.

“So, first I go in with this Eco gel,” Georgia told the camera.

“You can use any type of gel, but I do like this Eco one.

“I’m quite excited to show you guys this because I know everyone’s been saying they wanna see it.”

Georgia rubs the gel, which costs £3.99 in Boots, into her palms before running them through her hair from the root backwards.

She then uses a pin-tail comb to create the middle parting and scoops the “top half” of her hair backwards, creating a ponytail in her hands.

The influencer then dips a smoothing paddle rectangular hairbrush into the Eco gel and combs it through her hair to fix the “half-up” style in place.

“The secret is one of these brushes,” she said.

“The bristles are really fine, so it makes it super sleek.

“I just keep adding gel and going through with that brush to make sure everything is super sleek.”

Georgia then secures the style with a “hair bobble” before going back in with the brush to further smooth her strands to her scalp.

The penultimate step is to smooth out baby hairs and flyaways with a tooth-brush sized fine bristle brush, ensuring they’re laying flat to the head.

The final step is to generously spritz on some L’Oréal Paris Hairspray by Elnett, which you can pick up for as cheap as £2.99 in your local supermarkets.

“I just go with some hairspray and just pat that down,” Georgia said.

“Elnett is so nostalgic for me because it reminds me of when I was at ballet when I was a little girl and I’d have to have a really tight bun.”

There’s the option to further smooth flyaways with a clear gel on a mascara-esque bristle brush and add a bow, but the style stays in place without either.

Georgia gained fame on the fourth series of Love Island in 2018 and returned to British screens for the show’s All Star series earlier this year.
