A man has died at a water skiing race during the Euston Robinvale 80 on the Victoria and New South Wales border.
Ski Racing Victoria said a skier died at the event on Saturday morning.
“Unfortunately, during this morning’s racing at the Euston Robinvale 80 water ski race, there was an incident involving one of our competing teams where a skier fell and suffered serious injuries,” Ski Racing Victoria said in a statement.
The skier, aged in his 40s, was administered CPR but could not be revived by the attending paramedics, with the remaining races cancelled for the day, Ski Racing Victoria said.
“As a ski racing community, we are here to support the affected family and team members as well as the wider ski racing community at this very sad time.”
“We wish to thank everyone for the efforts and support, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
Emergency services attended the scene about 11am on Saturday.
A NSW Police spokesperson said a report was being prepared for the Coroner after the man died at the scene.
“With assistance from Victoria Police, officers attached to Barrier Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Police said the man was yet to be formally identified.
The events scheduled for Sunday will not go ahead.
It comes after a man in his 40s died at the Southern 80 waterskiing race in February.
