Get to know beloved Crufts presenter Clare Balding

Clare Balding was born on January 29, 1971.

Clare’s career began in horse racing but she went on to become an award-winning broadcaster, journalist and author.

After studying English at Cambridge University, Clare started working for the BBC as a trainee back in 1994.

Since 2004, Clare has hosted the much-loved dog show Crufts.

Elsewhere, she has presented the Olympics, Royal Ascot and many other sporting events.

BBC dropped Crufts in 2008

The BBC dropped Crufts from its schedule in 2008, two years before its contract to air the competition ended.

It made the decision after a BBC investigation “found dogs on show suffer from genetic diseases following years of inbreeding”.

The BBC explained at the time that the Kennel Club, which runs Crufts, could not comply with its request for particular breeds to be excluded.

Crufts Singles Agility results revealed

The results are in for the Crufts Singles Agility competition.

Naarah Cuddy’s adorable pup, named LILHAZE DARK PLEASURE, took home the top spot.

FANDABIDOZI ECLIPSE OF DUST came in second, while SOLDAZE LADY GERTRUDE took the third spot.

Speedy pups take part in Crufts agility competition

The novice agility competition for intermediate and large dogs took place this afternoon, with some of the fastest pups in the country showing off their skills.
