Investigations are underway in northern NSW after a woman’s body was found in the boot of a car.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Park Street in Evans Head after welfare concerns were reported.
Officers arrived to find the body of a woman in her 60s in the boot of a car.
Police sources say the woman had suffered fatal stab wounds.
A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to the Ballina police station.
Police have confirmed the man is the son of the dead woman.
Police sources say the woman was killed inside a home and her body moved and place in the boot of a car, parked on the street.
A crime scene has been established.
