Influencer Angelina Nicole shared a no ‘poo update after ditching the haircare staple in aid of softer and shinier locks.
Instead, she “uses conditioner every single day” and a hair repair mask one to two times a week.
When she gets out of the shower, Angelina applies a “curl defining” and spritzes a sea salt spray in her lengths.
“I don’t brush my hair,” she shared on TikTok.
“And when I say I don’t brush my hair, I mean I don’t even own a brush.
“I don’t touch my hair with a brush, ever.
“If you have wavy or curly hair, you know that it just makes it poofy.
“Honestly, my hair doesn’t get tangled because I just put a lot of conditioner in it in the shower.”
However, the revelation has opened the content creator up to trolling.
Critics have claimed that not washing your hair is “gross” and urged her to “just wash it, it’s much easier”.
One of the main benefits of ditching shampoo is reduced chemical exposure on your hair.
Many commercial shampoos contain harsh chemicals, such as sulphates and parabens, which can strip the scalp and hair of natural oils.
By eliminating shampoo, you reduce exposure to these potentially harmful chemicals.
But people have claimed that Angelina isn’t reaping this benefit as she’s using “four more products” to offset the side effects of going no ‘poo.
“Surely you have an extreme amount of product build up,” one questioned.
“No shampoo but four products makes no sense” another said.
Fans of the no ‘poo movement believe that without the stripping effects of shampoo, hair may become softer, shinier and more manageable.
Natural oils produced by the scalp can help moisturise and protect the hair shaft easier without chemical interference from shampoo.
While ditching shampoo may offer some potential benefits for certain individuals, it’s important to note that the effectiveness of this method can vary depending on factors.
Among these is hair type, scalp condition and personal preference.
It’s essential to find a hair care routine that works best for your unique needs.
