Melanie Sandford (@melaniesandford18) has garnered over 413,000 followers on TikTok, where she shares self-care tips.

She looked in good spirits as she recommended a product for reducing the signs of aging around the eyes.

“Castor oil helps to get rid of dark circles under your eyes, also bagginess under the eyes,” she said.

“All you have to do is massage the area underneath, where the dark circles or puffy eyes are.”

She demonstrated the beauty hack using Heritage Store’s black castor oil.

It has a whopping 4.7-star rating on Amazon, where it is currently priced at $17.50.

One customer confessed they were “obsessed” with the product as they revealed in their review that it has helped with the red tones on their face and dark undereyes.

Another shopper said she applies the oil before makeup during the day and again at night after washing her face.

“I’m so pleased with the results!” she said.

Melanie gushed about how effective castor oil is for undereyes as she revealed it takes just days to see an improvement.

“Ricinoleic acid has anti-inflammatory properties.

“Castor oil reaches deep down to the dermis which is the lower level of skin.

“Within just a few days you will see a difference under your eyes.

Is it safe to use castor oil under your eyes?

Dark circles can appear due to several reasons including fatigue, aging, allergies, and genetics.

They usually aren’t a cause for concern but you should talk to your doctor if they worsen over time or swell.

According to Healthline, there is no scientific evidence to support claims that castor oil works for dark circles under the eyes.

However, it is generally considered safe to try and there is anecdotal evidence that it may work for some people.

“Don’t hesitate to go ahead and put it on your eyebrows because it will grow your eyebrows.

“Whatever is remaining on your fingers, just coat your lashes. It helps grow your lashes.

“This is almost an instant fix, really within a few days you’re going to see a difference.”

She added in the caption of her post that ricinoleic acid makes up 90% of the castor oil composition.

“It encourages the synthesis of collagen and elastin in the skin,” she said.

“And since these are the main structural proteins present in the layers of the dermis, and help in reducing wrinkles and make the skin hydrated.”

Over 52,000 people liked the video and thousands of viewers took to the comment section to share their thoughts.

“In two weeks 70% under eye dark circles gone,” one person wrote.

“At this point, I’m just going to lather my entire body from head to toe in castor oil [laughing] why not right!” another said.

“Yes, I’ve been using it for a few days and I swear the dark circles are going away!” a third commented.

“I’ve tried so many expensive eye creams and they didn’t help.”
