The true crime series gave a glimpse into the suffering of Fawziyah Javed in the weeks leading up to her death, as her evil partner battered her and made threats against her life.

The couple from Leeds were on a mini break to Edinburgh in September 2021 when she told her husband that she wanted to end their marriage.

After the revelation Anwar took her to Arthur’s seat, a famous hillside beauty spot in the capital.

Fawziyah was then found in a critical condition on the cliff face by passers-by, who she told: “Don’t let my husband near me, he pushed me.”

The documentary makers had exclusive access to the court case, and filmed Fawziyah’s family as they heard evidence related to their daughter’s murder.

The woman’s mother went on to speak up about the dangers of domestic violence.

Viewers broke down after watching the painful scenes unfold, and took to social media to share their condolences.

One person wrote: “Wow Fawzivah Javed’s mother has the courage of a lion speaking to and audience about domestic violence . Am crying my heart out with her. Thank you Channel 4 for this poignantly heartbreaking documentary. RIP Fawzivah Javed.”

Another sobbed: “That brave brave lady knew they were likely to try and harm her, and she not only got a parcel of evidence but in her final moments made sure she made her statement to the police. I’m in tears again.”

A third shared: “Fawziyah was such a beautiful lady inside and out, as are her family. Totally heartbreaking for them all.”

A fourth added: “So desperately sad.. Violence against women has got to stop.. Sending thoughts to Fawziyah’s family.. I just can’t imagine their pain. Such a brave decision to allow Fawziyah’s story to be told.”
